Hi everyone. I’m 26 years old and honestly never imagined I’d find myself writing something like this.

I work in care, spending my days looking after other people, making sure they’re safe, comfortable and have everything they need. But lately, I’ve found myself struggling to do the same for myself.

I was born with a serious heart condition and underwent life-saving surgery when I was just 10 days old. Growing up, I always knew life could be unpredictable, but I’ve tried my hardest never to let my health stop me from living or working.

The truth is, life is expensive. Between household bills, food shopping and everyday essentials, it sometimes feels like no matter how hard you work, you’re constantly trying to catch up.

I’m not looking for luxuries or anything extravagant. Just a little breathing room and some help towards the basic things we all need.

I know everyone has their own struggles, and I would never expect anyone to give what they can’t afford. Even the smallest amount would be appreciated more than you could imagine.

It’s difficult asking strangers for help, especially when you’re so used to being the person helping others.
